DARLING WASTE

Darling Waste is the musical equivalent to sitting home alone on a cold winters night with your favorite book. Singer/songwriter Lance Williams has a knack for finding an honest and naked way to describe the joys and tiny heartbreaks of human relationships, all sung delicately over a musical bed that ranges from solo pianos and acoustic guitars to full on rock bands, synths, orchestras and choirs. The result is something at once familiar and completely original, both to the delight of critics and their rabid fan base, who have dubbed themselves "The Insignificants". The name is coined from the bands latest single off their second studio album, I AM BORN, which was released in June of 2009.

I AM BORN has been met with both commercial and critical success. The album was recorded and released independently by Darling Waste and has been selling out during their most recent tours of the US and UK. The single, "The Insignificants" had them nominated for a Brit Music Week Award and is getting strong radio airplay. In a recent reviews Stereop Magazine said "Lance Williams sings from his heart and you can really feel the passion in his voice." while Rock On Magazine exclaimed I AM BORN is "Well written with powerful lyrics" and "Simply impossible to resist! It is hard not to be sucked in by this very charming album."

Aside from critical success,Darling Waste has built up a reputation for their non-stop international touring. True touring machines, they have performed over 450 shows with bands such as Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Secondhand Serenade, Chiodos, Emerosa, Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard, Bayside, Aiden, Kill Hannah, Saves the Day and countless others. This working class tour ethic has built an ever growing fan base along the way. During a recent interview with Zimms.net, Williams stated "We hang out with every single person who comes to see us. We get to the club early to hang out with the kids who have waited around all day to be up front and we usually go to Denny's or something with the kids who stay out late. We love being a part of people's lives. We've had two couples who proposed and got engaged at our shows and dozens of people have our Darling Waste heart tattoo. It's really humbling and flattering."

With songs on MTV, VH1, Showtime, Miramax Movies, 9,000 albums sold to date,2.7 million plays and 118,000 friends on myspace.com, all of this newfound success comes as quite a shock for Williams, who was homeless for a period of time between the bands first and second full length albums. "I was living in a park for a while and then in the band's tour van in New York." Williams said to Zimms.Net, "It was a really scary experience but I think everything that happens to you makes you who you are." And for Darling Waste, life experiences are everything. "I just really make music that comes from my heart and experience and hope people can relate to it. There is no such thing as a casual Darling Waste fan. We aren't part of any scene... We have an emotional bond with our fans."

And from the looks of it, 2010 will be even better for Darling Waste than 2009. I AM BORN has been picked up by HOT TOPIC for release and is being released as a deluxe edition in the UK. The band is also traveling to London in April to record a follow up E.P. and has a documentary coming out this spring as well. Look for Darling Waste on tour across the U.S. and Europe all spring and summer
